Method 1: Using paper & a ruler
Step 1: Cut a small strip of paper.
Step 2: Place the paper strip over your thumb nail bed.
Step 3: Use a pen or pencil to mark where the sides of your nail hit the skin on both sides.
Step 4: Measure the distance between the two marks using a ruler (or an online real-size ruler). Record the result in millimeters (mm).
Method 2: Using a tape measure
Step 1: Grab a flexible tape measure
Step 2: Place the tape measure across your thumb nail bed, measuring from one side to the other where the nail meets the skin.

Head to the app store and download the Chipped social app.
Create your account and add the required information to your profile.
Go to the settings and add a photo, bio and update your social media links.
Go the the "CHIPS" tab and click on the + button to add your nail. Scan the microchipped thumb on the NFC reader of your phone (where you usually tap to pay).
Share your profile and social media links with new friends by hovering your microchipped thumb around the NFC reader of their phone (around the top middle on iPhones / in the middle of the phone for Androids).
The more you tap and share your socials, the more points you get! Once you get enough points, simply head to the "REWARDS" tab to claim your gifts.
Thoroughly clean your nails with the provided alcohol wipe. Use the file to lightly file the surface of your nail to remove the natural shine—this will help it stick better.
Push back your cuticles with the cuticle stick. File your nails to shape them (if desired).
- For glue: Apply your glue and gently press on your nails one by one, pressing each for 15-30 seconds to make sure they hold in place. File as needed.
- For tabs: Choose a sticky tab that fits your nail size. Apply the sticky tab without touching the adhesive sides. Press the Chipped nail onto your nail and file to your desired length.
Once your nails are in place, just avoid water for the next hour or so to make sure the adhesive sticks.
To take your nails off, just soak them in a bath of warm soapy water and oil for 10-15 minutes.
Then, simply pop them off with the included cuticle stick. If the nail is not coming off easily, don’t force it. Simply soak it for a little longer and try again.
If you used nails glue, file the remainder off. If you used nail tabs, simply pull off the residue.
The nails are fully reusable, as long as you don’t use acetone on them. You can reapply the glue and pop them back on immediately, or wipe them with alcohol and stash them in the box for future use.

It depends on how you apply them : nail glue typically lasts for 2 weeks before needing to be removed, and sticky tabs can last up to 5 days!
Yes! Chipped nails are high quality, thick and handmade, so they are reusable as many times as you want.
Just make sure you wipe them off with alcohol wipes before you store them, and do not use acetone to remove!

Once you've set up the Chipped app, simply head over to the "CHIPS" tab and click on the + button.
Then, simply tap your chipped thumb of the NFC reader of your phone when prompted.
Just tap your nail on the phone's NFC reader (towards the camera on iPhone, around the middle on Android). Even if they don't have the app, they'll still have access to your profile on their browser.
The more you tap, the points you earn! To redeem, simply go to the "REWARDS" tab on the Chipped app and claim the rewards you want.
